Surprise, I need a visa, Louise can pass without problems. So I go get a visa for 15 days. Had to book a flight to Saigon to be able to show a “return ticket”, as our flight out of Thailand was later.
After about an hour and 2000 baht less un my pocket, I meet her and we take the train to Makkasan, then we change to Pherchaburi and take the ubahn to Khlong Toei. There we find a complicated intersection and no way for pedestrians to our accommodation. A nice policeman shows us the way, under the bridge, looks a bit scary with all the cars going the other way, but we manage to find the place. Being 1.01 everything is closed and looks deserted.
After we check in at Royal Navin Tower, 17th floor, nice view over the “lung of Bangkok”, we take a taxi (70 baht) and go to Sathon 10 street only to find out the restaurants are closed until 17:00. The only choice was street food, and it was good. 120baht for 2, spicy and proper Thai food. We note that next time we want accommodation north from this Sathorn area. We book a massage next day at 12 and take a taxi back. This taxi also has problems in that complicated intersection, but we manage to get home.
In the evening I went to the closest 7-11. Have to pass under some highway and see an accident, 2 persons lying down on the street, seems that they had fallen from their scooter. Others try to wave to the coming cars so they avoid the fallen. The place looks creepy, but I manage to get back with some beer.
Next day... after we wake up, we swim a bit in the building’s swimming pool and try a device in the gym that shakes our fat.
Now off to massage! I took the foot massage for 350baht, Louise took Aroma massage for 700baht. We get into a taxi after we had walked more than 1km (there weren’t free taxis), and here we are.
The young girl gives me a very nice foot massage, I’m surprised how strong the little one can be. After I meet Louise and we go for a little walk around, check some accommodations in the area. Visit a shopping center, only to realize it’s not for us, then we take it on the streets. Big and small shops, it seems everyone sells something.
Then we take the ubahn to Ekkamai, where is one of the bus stations. We buy tickets 238baht for next day at 9:00 to Koh Chang. We take a taxi home because it was cheaper than the public transport, about 70baht. The public transport is not expensive either.
We decide to try a restaurant close to us, hopping it was open. Only one is open, the staff is very helpful, menu only in Thai, but he shows us some pics on his phone how the food will look like. And we get the food. I got a coconut milk soup with chicken, I taste it and think I’ll die before I finish! It’s very spicy. No idea how I survived! The place looks nice during the night, inside there is a band of 2 boys playing love songs.
Now off to bed, next day we head to Koh Chang!
